It was a duck-billed dinosaur notable for the hatchet-shaped hollow bony crest on top of its skull and its crest was probably used as a weapon or as a means of defense against predators. It had a long tail with ossified tendons that kept it from drooping. They were robust, with long, sturdy front and hind legs, and had a long tail that served as balance when the animal walked. It was an herbivorous dinosaur that ate pine needles, conifers, ginkgoes, seeds, cycads, twigs, and magnolia leaves.
