Fossil Dinosaur Allosaurus Bone Jurassic/Morrison Formation. DP13- Spectacular colors and textures!! What a stellar specimen piece this is! This piece is quite interesting because it has colorful, defined rind of the bone and agatized marrow with lots of colors.
The piece is kidney bean shaped with about nine inches on the curved side, and 4. 75 on the flatter side. But is beautiful dry too!
Side 1- Front of Piece - Red Agate, some pinks, some crystal cell centers. Nice swirling patterns accentuated by some darker browns make up what would've been the marrow area of the bone.
The Outer Edge /Thick rind has tan, pink, and cream-colored agate. Dry, you see the dark-rust marrow framed by the light-grey, tan and soft yellow skin. 4.75 Tall X 3 inches at Widest point.
Side 2 - Back of Piece - Rainbow of colors and patterns. 2 to 3 to 3 1/4 inches at Widest. Side 3 - Curved Side with 3/4 of it having a Thick Skin Texture. What a nice blend of colors.
Even Dry- the piece presents nicely, showing whitish-grey with light tan, some dark brown and rusty red, with a slick surface/hard agate; not a flakey piece. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch Thick. Side 4 - Flat side with Fine Skin Texture.4 3/4 Wide X 1 1/4 Thick.
