Offered is an Inuit indigenously-carved and fossilized figurative sculpture with a contemporary carved face. The sculpture is 18-1/4" x 10-1/2" and has been signed by the artist. The carving and incising of fossilized material is done in order to avoid the splintering and cracking of more present-day oily fragments.
The Inuit are allowed to hunt marine mammals, including whales, for subsistence purposes. Condition: no breakage, and no repairs.
