Plus a free "floating" display stand, plus a free small color picture of a Pachycephalosaurus. Here is a very nice rib bone piece from a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus, from the Hell Creek Formation in Montana. From the late Cretaceous, between 72 and 66 million years ago.
The end of the Age of the Dinosaurs. The bone is about 1.92 inches. This piece of juvenile rib was likely near where it attached to the Centrum, as evidenced by the protruberance on the rib. Pachycephalosaurus means "thick-headed lizard" because of the huge thick round skull (up to 10 inches thick) surrounded by bony spikes. Pachycephalosaurus was an herbivore that walked on its hind legs. Pachycephalosaurus fossils are extremely rare. Only about 30 specimens of Pachycephalosaurus have been found so far, in varying levels of completeness. Pachycephalosaurus grew to about 15 feet and could weigh 1000 lbs.We really don't know the extent that they used their thick skulls for defense, but it probably would have been a deterrent. Some skull bones have been found with multiple damage marks from collisions. Pachycephalosaurus has been featured several times in the Jurassic Park movies, and has gained fame from them. One popular segment shows a "Pachy" head-butting Howard King's jeep over a cliff.

We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity). Some words of caution about COA's: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA's, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen. A COA should be specific to one particular specimen. With a photo of the item on it. It can never be transferred to a different specimen. We want to make sure you are fairly treated by us always. If it is important to you that you do, or do not.
